Glen Eira College Parents Association

Hi Glen Eira College Parents and Friends

Welcome To The Parents Association Information Page

The Glen Eira College Parents Association (GECPA) is an informal and friendly group of parents and guardians who act as a link between our parent community and the college.

Our main method of communicating with our parent community is through emails.  If you are not already receiving our emails, please click here to subscribe to our mailing list, so that we can let you know what is happening and how you can be involved.

All GEC parents and guardians are welcome to attend our meetings – a great chance to meet some school families and help the college.  Your level of involvement is up to you, and all contributions are appreciated.  If you are interested in getting involved, please send an email to

Regular Events

Each year, we run a small number of events to support our school community, enable families to meet and socialise together, and raise funds for the college.  Generally, these include the following:

Term 1:

  • A second-hand uniform stall before the start of the school year.  We sometimes also run an extra stall during the year.
  • A multicultural picnic for school families to socialise and share some food from our diverse community.
  • A fundraising stall at one of Glen Eira Council’s Party in the Park events.

Term 2:

  • A movie night

Term 3:

  • Refreshments at intermission of Glen Eira College’s Production
  • A Trivia Night every second year.  Our 2016 Trivia Night raised over $12,000, which enabled the college to buy new musical instruments and improve the school grounds.

Other Activities

Walk and Talk With Us Each Week

We have a social walking group which meets once a week to walk and chat for about an hour.  We meet on Tuesday evenings (weather permitting) at 7:30pm at the corner of Crosbie and Murrumbeena Roads at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve.

So that we can keep in contact, we have set up a messaging group on Whatsapp. To join the group, just email us your name and phone

School Crossing Campaign

GECPA is supporting a campaign by the Glen Eira College School Council to improve the safety of the school crossing on Booran Road (between the two sides of Glen Eira College).  We are lobbying for:

  • An extension to the 40km/h speed limit to cover the whole school day
  • Variable electronic speed signs to make the pedestrian lights more visible to drivers.

We urge you to write emails, sign the online petition Urgent Action on Speed Signs, write letters to the Glen Eira Leader and raise this issue with Glen Eira Councillors and with local MP’s so we can make the school crossing safer for our children.  You will find more information about the need for safety improvements when you click on the above link to the petition.

GEC Trivia Night – GEC Goes To Rio

On 6 August 2016, 160 parents, staff, former students and friends gathered together in the GEC gym, which was fabulously transformed for our night in Rio. We raised over $12,000, which is our best result ever.  This will help GEC to buy new musical instruments and improve the school grounds for the students.
