Le Français Première Langue à GEC
French First Language Program
Glen Eira College offers an outstanding bicultural French program in Melbourne.
The French First Language program is designed for students who are proficient in French. It was created in 2007 at the initiative of a group of francophone parents who wanted to continue their children’s bilingual education after primary school.
The program is offered in partnership with CNED (Centre National d’Enseignement à Distance) and ESFM (École Secondaire Française de Melbourne).
CNED allows students to follow the French National Education curriculum. Glen Eira College is among about one hundred schools worldwide that have signed an agreement with CNED, giving official recognition to the program offered at Glen Eira College. Teaching using CNED resources ensures that students are learning the French curriculum while assuring a high standard.
ESFM is a committee of volunteer parents. It is responsible for the optional subjects offered after school.
The teachers in the French First Language program are all native French speakers, qualified for the Australian education system, who know how to create an engaging classroom environment while using the resources provided by the CNED.

What our students say…
Pierre Year 12
Clara, Year 8
