Glen Eira College Parents Association

Hi Glen Eira College Parents and Friends

Welcome To The Parents Association Information Page

The Glen Eira College Parents Association (GECPA) aims to bring together a range of parents from across our diverse school community who can work together to support and promote our school.

Our main method of communicating with our parent community is through emails.  If you are not already receiving our emails, please subscribe to our mailing list, so that we can let you know what is happening and how you can be involved.

Calendar of Events

  • Walk and Talk With Us Each Week
    • As the weather is warming up, its a great time to get outside and exercise. We have started up a weekly walking group on Tuesday evenings, where GEC families and staff can walk and chat together for an hour or so
    • We meet at 7.25 for a 7.30pm start at the corner of Crosbie Road and Murrumbeena Road (there is plenty of on-street parking). All welcome!
    • We have a messaging group on Whatsapp, so that we can contact each other to confirm who is coming or cancel in the event of, for example, bad weather.  If you would like to join the Whatsapp group, send us an email with your name and phone number.
  • School Crossing Campaign
    • After the article in the Glen Eira Leader and sending numerous letters to Councillors and MPs, there has been a positive response in wanting to support Glen Eira College on the issue of improving the safety of the school crossing.
    • I urge you to write emails, sign the petition, Urgent Action on Speed Signs, write letters to the Leader and raise this issue with Glen Eira Councillors and with local MPs so we can make the school crossing safer for our children.
  • Second Hand Uniforms
    • Please consider donating any uniform items that your child no longer needs or has outgrown.  Smaller sizes are especially appreciated, as they are often sought by families of Year 7 students starting at Glen Eira College. Items can be brought to the college office by Friday 16th December.
    • NB Wcannot sell items that are no longer part of the college uniform, such as spray jackets and polar fleece jackets.
    • Our secondhand uniform stall will be held at Glen Eira College on Wednesday 25th January 2017.
  • Multicultural Supper
    • On 7 March 2017, we will host a low-cost social event for GEC families and staff to celebrate our multicultural community together.

GEC Trivia Night – GEC Goes To Rio

On 6 August 2016, 160 parents, staff, former students and friends gathered together in the GEC gym, which was fabulously transformed for our night in Rio. We raised over $12,000, which is our best result ever.  This will help GEC to buy new musical instruments and improve the school grounds for the students.
